more about winter solstice

backyard trees for the winter solstice album. there’s snow and a lot of clip studio paint filters on this one.

this was a fun mini-project. i had ambitions for a longer album, but they were cut short by my computer breaking. i was able to salvage the hard drive but i lost all my VST’s. fortunately i had the foresight to render what i’d made to date, and it was these five songs. instead of trying to salvage and make more, i decided this was a fine stopping point to the project.

i’d made these around winter but didn’t post them til spring, more out of laziness than anything else. the artwork is the trees in the snow in my backyard. the snow was long gone by the time i’d posted the music.

i started with the ambition of making music i’d see in a horror-suspense visual novel, inspired by danganronpa, 999 (zero escape), and the deca tapes podcast. i liked the eerie spooky guitar-ish synth i lead into the first track with. the action rises as the songs progress. the key change at the end of the last song is my favorite moment in the whole album.

i’m back at it with my video games again. the track names are the names of the zones in phantasy star online episode 2. i didn’t continue the series with the next album, though. i think i’d stopped playing too much PSO by the time i got around to posting this. i got a bike and the next album happened.
